Sindmóveis, supported by APEX-Brasil, developed an action plan to promote the members of Orchestra Brasil project to boost exports in Germany. Representatives of Brasmacol (PR), CPI Papéis (SP), Kolafit (PR), Lavrama/Lavrasul (PR), Reval Aramados (RS) and Metalsinos (RS) attended Interzum, one of the most important fairs for the furniture industry suppliers in the world, held in the country with the largest economy in the European Union - a good opportunity to enter various markets on the continent. The event featured more than 50,000 visitors. According to Clement Távora, a representative of Lavrasul, a manufacturer of plywood, panels and frames, Interzum opened up the possibility of working in new markets. For the first time participating in a project action promoted by Orchestra Brasil, he was surprised by the organization and the opportunities created. "I had contact with companies from countries like Romania, Denmark and Norway. Now we are getting in touch with potential customers to test samples" says Távora. The same optimism was evident in the statement of Giovani Colognese, a representative of Brasmacol, manufacturer of furniture components. For Colognese, who actively participates in Orchestra Brasil action plans, this was the best of all tradeshows. The company, which so far has never exported to Europe, is in contact with 12 potential partners in Germany and neighboring countries. "I was surprised at the visitation of the fair and the public aimed at our product" said the businessman. The participation of members of Orchestra Brail in the event is part of an action oriented to foster the image of Brazilian companies in the global market. Germany, the second largest exporter in the world, is a strategic country for having great trade openness. In 2009, German sum of exports reached approximately US$ 1.4 trillion and imports totaled US$ 1.2, which ranks the country as one of the five largest importers. Orchestra Brasil, a project to boost the export of Brazilian companies that supply the furniture industry, is run by the Furniture Industry Association of Bento Gonçalves (Sindmóveis), with the support of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (APEX Brasil). The aim of Orchestra Brasil is to promote and increase the integration of supplying companies in the international market through trade promotion actions such as the Buyer’s Project, Seller’s Project, Business Missions and the participation in fairs in different countries.
