Movelsul Brasil will be present at 31st edition of Expo Mueble Guadalajara, held from February 15-18, in the Mexican city. The largest furniture trade fair in Mexico, the show takes place twice a year, with the participation of Movelsul always in its winter edition, which is attended by domestic and foreign shopkeepers in search of launches for the year. It features more than 500 exhibitors in a 52 thousand square meter show floor, displaying furniture for the home, garden, office, and lighting and decorative objects. Mexican Imports of furniture made of wood, plastic, metal and other materials, excluding seats and mattresses, totaled US$ 390 million until September 2011, representing a growth of 17% over the same period last year. Brazil accounts for about 1% of this market. In 2010, it exported US$ 5.8 million, in 2011, until September, US$ 3.5 million. The biggest Brazilian competitors in this market include the USA and China, which account for more than 70% of the Mexican imports of furniture. Cesar Boeira Nepomuceno, director of the International Affairs of Movelsul Brasil, explains that the Mexican market is very important and has characteristics similar to the Brazilian market. Thus, the furniture does not require design adaptations to be accepted in that country. "One of the few problems we have is the need to have a partner within the country for the marketing of products, as they have a very specific negotiation system with buyers and also different logistics," he says.
